Bear grease
« on: August 21, 2025, 08:05:07 PM »
Something we like to do when we get a bear that’s not on fish is to render down the fat. Takes a little work but feels good to use everything and makes for great gifts. Thought I’d share some pics of the one I just got. Ended up with about 35 pints on this bear.

Solid work!
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Very nice work.

On another note -  that looks like an outstanding setup/space you have for meat processing. We might have to get another thread going with people's setups. With a shop in my 3-5 year plans, I'm starting to compile ideas. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

I cut meat for a lot of years in the garage on a collapsible table or in the kitchen. When I bought my new place, I turned part of the shop into a butcher shop also built a walk-in cooler. Absolutely love it and use the crap out of it.

Do you pressure can that, or does the heat differential seal the pop top?
