I’ll post a pic and maybe a story if I have any luck. Some bulls were talking Sunday through Tuesday. We didn’t have any success calling any in though and came home Tuesday afternoon. Headed back up tomorrow and then either hunting through the 18th or come home a little earlier if I kill one. We saw one bull that was close to a shooter with 12 cows. Peaches ridge archery.

I tried to post a pic of the bull I shot Friday but it won’t let me submit it from my phone. I ended up shooting one frontal at 28 yards. He went less than 100 yards and piled up. Had a really good 3 days chasing what sounded like the bull I ended up shooting in the same area.

Take a screenshot then post that pic.

Well we kind of were all over the unit to start with. We did a lot of long hikes and got into some places we didn’t know how the heck we’d even get an elk out without it spoiling. My hunting partner and his son spent the whole time with me. My 15 and 17 year old came up Thursday night. At this point we’d chase the bull 3 mornings.  Friday afternoon he started bugling on his own. We worked in on him and called in 2 satellites. He was close and the bugles were so loud I was shaking pretty damn bad. Don’t know if I could’ve made a shot my heart was pounding so damn bad. I ended up trying to sneak up and got busted by either a satellite or a cow that was barking at me. They spooked but made a big U around us. The boys and I went and got ahead of them downwind and started cow calling. He didn’t move much and another bull started to come down the hill behind us. My oldest said he thought we should go check him out. We were running out of time and he said that bull was further then he thought and my hunting partner was up waiting by the direction the original bull was headed. We decided to sprint in that direction and when we got to my hunting partner he said he thought the bull was just over the hill. I knocked an arrow and then crept over the hill and his herd blew but my son immediately barked. The bull picked up his head as I was drawn back already and I guessed for 30. The arrow sank all the way to the stomach and he ran down the hill less than 100 yards. We gave him an hour before we went down to look for him and only found a couple of drops of blood about 10 yards from him. I tried the iron will Broadheads for the first time and I really like them now. The pack out was very nice having 3 boys to help cut him up and carry the meat out.
