I just picked up a 36” 4 burner blackstone for one heck of a deal. I know, I know, a little late to the game. What are some must have accessories for these things and general care instructions? What are some of your favorite things to cook on them.

Thanks!

A scraper and an IR Thermometer are must haves.

All the taco type stuff meat, beans, veggies, reheat rice. All breakfast type stuff. My SIL did steaks on ours last summer and they were great. Smash burgers are fun, and cook fast.

It’s just basically I big cast iron skillet, so season it like one. If it gets a little rust on it after not being used, just clean it with their cleaner and reseason it.

best accessory for a Blackstone is a garbarge can! Mine warped immediately. I think when they first came out they were good as some friends had some luck with them - I literally took mine to the dump

Second time I used mine it wouldn't get very hot. Had to disconnect the propane tank then connect it again. Worked great after.

Clean it after every use, and put a thick coating of Vegetable Oil over it.  It will keep it from drying out or rusting the cooking surface

I used to use vegetable oil on cast iron. You will be way happier with natural  hi temp oil. Grape seed, avacodo, peanut, etc. If im going to use it again soon Lard. At the very least canola vs vegetable oil :twocents:

far as cooking pretty much all thats been mentioned. Cant think of anything special we do with a griddle.

Nice tool to have for cooking alot of food and different things at the same time.

Best thing I've used mine far for, blanching a huge bunch of chanterelle mushrooms before chamber vacuuming them. Other than that, I love their long handled tongs. Use them for everything from dunking razor clams to grabbing bags out of the sous vide machine.

A great place to start.  He's got videos on how to start out, and many, many cooking videos.  Highly recommend.

I agree on the original tongs! Cant find them now or id buy 5.

Fried rice is fun! Fast and will give you a new appreciation for the dude at the teriyaki joint standing of the griddle all day.

Have the same one. For me I cook on the two middle burners. Temp 3 marks from the bottom. The outer burners I use as a warming plate. Heat commin from the two middle burners. Bigger cooks more burners. Enjoy and good eats
