IDFG posted that graphic in a comment on their Facebook page a couple days ago, taken from a PowerPoint that was presented to their commission.

Applications are the number of unique applications. Applicants is the total number of unique people. Like was mentioned above, group applications is the reason for the two sets of numbers.

I couldn’t find the info for DAV tags, but the Nonresident quota for Deer Tags is 15,500, and Elk Tags is 12,815.

Thanks again.

Focusing on elk (...I know this is the deer forum...), there were 27,804 applicants (fewer actual applications, due to party applications), and a statewide limit on non-resident elk tags of 12,815.  Simple math says about a 46% chance of drawing (I know, there is more to it than that).  So about a 50/50 chance of drawing??  If so, then this is much better than I originally thought.

On the other hand, my understanding of the law in Idaho is that the 12,815 non resident elk tag cap is firm, meaning that if all 12,815 tags are filled in the 2nd draw, then non-residents will NOT be allowed to purchase controlled tags.  Is this correct, or is the controlled tag quota different from the statewide non-resident cap?

Controlled tags are outside of that quota and limited to 10% of total controlled hunts
