Idaho deer 2026. Let’s go!!

Who else got lucky in the Idaho deer draw?! My nephew and I will be heading out in late October. Super stoked. First time for us in Idaho. Now to find a spot. lol.

I’d look at this more as an Idaho deer thread. Good luck on your upcoming hunt. I’d push it to middle to late November if you can.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Not many hunts in the general that you can push into middle to late November is there?

I’m a north Idaho guy. Units 1-9 mule deer doesn’t even open until 11/1 and either ends the 9th or 14th.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Find a mountain you don't want to climb, then head up it. Keep going up until you don't see any other people. You'll likely find deer.

My favorite whitetail unit go the last week if you have not hunted there before.  Fun hunt.

We’ll be in unit 39 for the first week of the rifle opener in October.
I would plan to be back for the final week of season if you can. Especially if we get weather 39 during migration is a blast if you’re in the right areas

I had the tag two years ago with an elk B tag and hunted the opening part of the season. I took my son along and loved the area. I intended to hunt towards the last part in November like you said this time around. Did you rattle them in at all at that time of year?

I have never rattled them in I just hike around mainly in the valley down by the river.  Pick a hill park and hike in. Some pretty good animals in there.
