A cougar tries to steal my cat
« on: January 20, 2026, 06:50:32 PM »
I usually tie my traps to something so the cages can't get moved. Thought I had forgot on this one but I found I had tied it to a small limb. Not big enough as it was broken off. Anyway the cage and a live bobcat were about 30 feet from where I had set it. I believe I spooked the cougar off him when I drove up but not 100% sure. Pretty nice Tom, weighed 30 pounds.

How do you kill them in the trap?  shoot in the head?  I wouldn't want to break the skull myself.  Nice cat

Nice cat!!! That would have been a great video to watch that cougar trying to get that bobcat.

In a previous life, I was checking my lines one time in the snow and was walking a higher country skidder trail east of Coweeman Lake, and a female cougar with (2) kittens jumped on the trail and they were all heading towards my cat sets. Sure as shizzit, I look ahead and it look like a bomb exploded. There was nothing left of that cat but hair and paws. I had coyotes eat my cats before, but never a cougar.

We've got some great cat weather. Keep gett'en them!!!

I use a Deathray , no blood no mess
We have to give the lower jaws to wdfg so skulls are worthless
If I gotta shoot a cat or coyote and I want the fur I double lung them

I line up the head and spine then shoot them in the eye so the bullet goes through to the spine. If done correctly skull is still intact. Great cat Bruce
