A couple people have mentioned a tape measure? Why?  No judgements, generally curious. Measuring antlers in the field or something I'm missing?

To answer a couple of questions

Why a flexible tape measure? I do carry a flexible tape so in case I have something I plan to have mounted (which isn’t often) I can measure the neck for accuracy and record measurements. 1) Directly behind the ears and 3 inches behind the ears. Not a requirement but I like the accuracy. The cape can be measured for good results later on which I also do anyway. I don’t carry it to measure antlers. Just personal preference.

Which Eagle Creek do I use?
I carry the Eagle Creek “Isolate Sac Sets” For my pack pouches.

Ah that makes sense, wouldn't have thought about that. Thanks. I suppose it could help one determine if it's worth it to pack the whole head for a taxi mount vs euro or just skull plate.

After my experience this year, when hunting alone for elk, bring a small pulley system to help move your elk around.  I processed my elk in the middle of a steep clearcut with nothing to tie off to but 5 yr old reprod.  A small block and tackle set up would have helped immensely in manipulating the dead weight by myself.
