TEANAWAY NEWS!!
« on: November 29, 2007, 11:11:03 AM »
Well I made it home alive last night trough the snow storm. 6 long hard days of hunting and no work was just what the doctor ordered. I saw lots of critters; deer, elk, turkeys. Man, if I only had a big bull tag. Anyway back to the deer hunt. I dont have time to post all the pistures right now but here are a few. The first one is a buck I passed on, just not what I was looking for. Then a few elk and turkey pictures. I will finish my story later. Thanks for reading.  ;)

Ya,  Thanks for posting.   Show me the cows though!

I hope in that list of photos there is one of you and a big buck.

Thanks for sharing,  thats my weekend destination.

When your posting the rest let me know if getting a 30ft trailer back to 29pines lookes feasable.

Thanks

Day 6. 3:00 pm. 2 hours till I have to pack up and head home for a few days to work. I am dragging my feet thinking of the bucks that I should have killed, yata yata. There he was, not exactly what I had hoped for, but he would be worthy of my tag. 27-28" wide, nice deep forks, long mains, tall. He would definately do. I slikenked into position. As a peeked over the little brushy hill I saw a doe had me pinned. The buck was 30 yards but walking away and I had to freeze. Finally the doe looked away I got into position to draw. The buck is at 52 yards. I am confident at 50. One small detail. A doe was lined up broadside with the buck. I can only see his spine and a slight miss smacks the doe. I know I could likely make a spinal but should I wait......

27-28", thats a good teanaway buck, I dont know what you were exactly striving for, sounds like all the characteristics of a tag worthy buck to me.  And you're seriously going to make us wait for the rest of the story and pictures, you're killing me.

I'll have to finish the story on Sunday. The stupid buck never would give me an ethical shot. I passed twice when my gut was telling me to shoot as we played cat and mouse for an hour and a half. If I had only found him a day or two sooner I would have more chances at him. The nine does with him did not help at all. I did talk the wife into letting me go back though. Pretty sure he will still be there. Hopefully round two ends with a little better luck. Sorry for the suspence to a crappy ending  :chuckle:

At least there is an ending now!  Not the one we wanted to hear though.  Was expecting a success and 300"+ pic :tung:

Good luck on your trip back in.

So are you seeing quite a few deer though?  Is this latest buck encounter the biggest one you've seen out there?  This new snow hopefully will only better your chances of encountering some biggins out there.

I was seeing lots of deer every day. Mostly dink 2, 3 & 4 points. The close encounter on Wednesday was the biggest buck that I got a good look at and put the sneak on. There were a few that were far far away or on the run that I really never got my glasses on. I had a heck of a time finding bucks up high. Even after the snow I couldnt hardly cut a fresh track above Beverly, Bean, Standup, Iron Creek, and other areas of similar elevation. Seems like most of the activity was already lower. I could have been missing something though because I dont think 10 inches of snow moves a big buck off of the mountain. I will give it one more go this weekend. Might have to shoot a dink so I dont eat tag soup this winter. We'll see.

That's just mean leaving people hanging like that wastickslinger. Hope you find that buck again and get a good shot at him this time.
