Hmmm, it seems that I am a minority here. Yes I own a Volvo Suv and yes it is my dog transporter and YES it was just fine in the snow that seems to befuddle a great number of washingtonians that I witnessed this last winter! I am from Michigan...hear me roar!  :stirthepot: :kneel:

this is my newest hunting rig. 87 325i automatic.  it drives pretty nice but if its more that 65 degrees outside it tends to overheat  ;)

I have to admit the F350 sucked not so much as a bad hunting rig but with the diesel they're so front heavy and fords are alway light in the ass they dog track on wet grass....plus even with out chipping my 7.3L or hot rodding it like a youngster it still SH%^ out trannies like they were refried beans.

First one burnt the Converter coming over Snoqualmie pass with a 2400# camper doing 55 no OD. Had a 120K on it so I let that one slide. 2nd lasted 20,000 pulled an 8000# trailer three or four times again  babied it for diesel anyway, 21K :dunno: then had  ford put in one from their recomended tranny specialist, hauled that trailer once over Sno Pass again not pushing it, 45MPH going up the main pull at the summit in 2nd. That tranny lasted 6000 miles. Something's up with that motor/ tranny combo. Most tell me it's the oil galleries back in them 4th and OD gearing, not big enough and it heats up no matter.....SO no more auto for me and onto the 6.7L Cummins with 6 speed from now on. Duals though so  it looks like a lot less road hunting with that width ;)

I have 140k on my hot rodded F-350 with a 7.3 and its still pulling strong. One thing I did add was a manual torque converter lock up. Just flip the switch and its direct drive, no slippage. Keeps the heat down and pulls like a manual. Just make sure you disengage it before stopping... or its like a manual with the clutch out.  :chuckle:

I'm suprised the VW got so many votes.  I drove a golf in college and that thing was awesome.  It went anywhere, fit 5 guys and 2 dogs all and did it at 40 mpg.  I think that car saw every dirt road in south eastern Washington and central Idaho.

Apparently not very many of you have experience the the 2.8L S-10's, Blazers and P/U's.

It falls under the "Worst hunting rigs" category.

I agree, I would rather have a volvo than an s-10 blazer.

the 2.8L in the s-10 series is a horrible engine, but the 4.3 i think is one of the baddest V6's you can get around...
