Definitely not this year.  Been fighting some pretty debilitating health issues for most of the year and have about 1/3 of the strength and 0 stamina as a result.  If I get to hunt elk this will be the first time in many that I will hunt with a partner.  Been hunting deer and elk solo archery for a very long time.

Thanks everyone, looks like a lifestyle change is headed my way.  Got my chest x-rays back and I have an slightly enlarged heart and I'm anemic.  Most likey due to my blood pressure.  Treadmill and stationary bike, oatmeal for breakfast, salad for lunch and fish for supper.   :chuckle:

Good luck Hope you get a big one.

Thank you very much! I will be trying for a big one as hard as I have ever hunted before. This is the "big one" as most on here know. I will not be satisfied with 300".

I am extremly out of shape.. Working two desk jobs and doing online schooling at night doesnt help much either.  I am done with my summer college schedule next wednesday until this middle of sept so now I am getting motivated to get into shape for fall.  Tonight was my start I ran the staircase 10 times and then did some light excersizes (cruches, squats etc)  I will keep vamping it up and then hopefully we can get out and do some activities outdoors.  Muley has been playing paintball and his day job is pretty active he is on his feet moving all day.  We bought a scale 2 weeks ago I believe ...Hes lost about 12+ pounds and I have lost 3 ha ha ha.  My goal is atleast 10 more hopefully 15 if I really work hard.  If I lose 10 I will be at my correct weight for my heigt if I lose 15 I will just feel really proud :)

At least your losing weight I started working out at the gym and gained 3 lbs and am stuck...no losing no gaining and I am not fond of the number I am stuck at..... :bash: :bash:  but I am in better shape than I was I think.....or maybe I am delusional  :P

Run just remember muscle weighs more than fat :)  its a good thing

Plus, muscle burns more calories.  It is a two for one.  I tell girls to judge how their clothes fit, rather than their weight.

Well then I'm good to go, mine are all baggy, of course I just keep buying bigger clothes, does that count!!   :chuckle: :chuckle:

Take care of yourselves guys!  In my line of work I get to see the end results of bad health, and it sucks.  Telling a wife that their husband is dead because of a heart attack is a hard thing to do.  It's good to see so many of you getting in shape for elk season, but think of the other reasons to get in shape also so, you can enjoy the endless seasons with the family and friends.  My Dad recently had a quadruple bypass, 80% blockage.  The only symptoms he had was feeling weak when he was at work.  He went in for an ECG and nothing was found.  Fortunately the doctor was proactive and did a stress test and found abnormalities in the ECG.   They went in to place stints but found he had to much of a blockage, so they scheduled him for surgery.  Things went great for him and now he is able to do things he could not do before.  The weird thing about it was that he lost almost 20 pounds just from the increased blood flow.  Heart disease comes on so slowly that the victim does not realize that the reason they can't do as much when they get older is not necessarily because of age but because their heart is working so hard to get blood past all the crap.  So like I said please take care of yourselves.     Just my  :twocents:

I HATE working out but when I had a gym membership I LOVED the elliptical... it does similar motions of running but doesn't hurt as much.  I wish I could affoard to buy one cause I loved it thats basically all my gym membership paid for was the use of the elliptical.
