scope mounts for this rifle.

http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=139142187

i just picked this exact rifle up at a pawn shop for $200. action is smooth, barrel is super clean, no rust, no pitting, everything looks to have very very little use to be honest, i took it apart to clean it and it was spotless. its in better shape then the rifle in the link.

i need to get scope mounts for it. and have no idea where to start. the front base matches perfectly with a remington model 700 base. but the rear has a smaller hole distance then a remington. also the action has a wierd round shape to it in the rear...so getting a flush mount surface is gonna be tough.

i called OE today to see what they had but they dont sell bases seprately so i can mix and match UNLESS i buy two sets of bases which is far to expensive. also called butch's gun shop in green lake and they had no idea.

any ideas?

Looks to be a sporterized Mauser?  I don't know, I think I'd take it to a gunsmith. Where do you live?

i live in west seattle.

and yea it is. thats what golden state arms is all about. i baught a enfield that was sporterized by them a couple years ago. it was such a sweet rifle, everything was nice and crisp. so when i seen this today in the pawn shop i just had to have it...after having such great luck with the previous golden state arms rifle i owned. so i transfered payement from the savage to this and took it home.

so now the quest of finding scope mounts begins. at least i only need a rear mount at least.

but i made sure to leave $20 on the savage so he cant sell it. so ill just take my time paying it off. and have it for next year  :chuckle:

I shoot a sporterized Enfield that looks very similar to that one.  When I clean it tomorrow, I'll take the scope off to see what scope mount is on it.

Well, I took the scope mounts off, but the only marking on it was the number 41.  It's been a bunch of years since I put them on, but I'm pretty sure the bases are Weaver.  Hope this helps some.

Take it to a local gunsmith.  They usually have some old Weaver mounts sitting loose in a drawer, and can match one up by the hole spacing.  Otherwise, you can also have it re drilled and tapped to a one piece base if you want.  I think you can buy front and  back bases separately, you might try Brownells or Midway.
