Some bucks from this weekend (2)

Had a great weekend archery hunting with my dad.  We saw some nice bucks, but nothing exceptional.  It was still fun to get out and put some miles on the boots.  We had some awesome hunts and did some practice sneaks on borderline bucks.  It is fun to say "i coulda killed ya  :)  Here is a pic I snapped on one bachelor group I followed around.  The biggest buck is around 24" or so but his forks are small.   Still fun to watch!  I was 15 yards from a 150"ish 4x4 at this time last night - Gotta love this stuff!

I must say that  is a cool looking kill shot but not sure about the ethics behind the shot, that could have easily wounded that deer and ended up suffering for a long time, I don't think head shots belong in archery,  :twocents:

Oh, he wasn't aiming for the head.  I think it was a combo of a STIFF wind and steep downhill angle.  It was a "miss" that worked out.  No-one is advocating head shots.  (How did I know I would be having this conversation?)

I know things happen while hunting, just glad to hear that it wasnt what he was aiming for, must say I have never seen that before once in life time shot right there.

Don't mean to flame JJ.   I saw two different deer with arrows sticking out of bucks heads this year alive and it left a sour taste in my mouth so to speak.  I can imagine what it does to the non hunting population.  This one ended cool, but could have seriously ended bad.  A hair lower and the deer would have been blinded and still alive.  A hair higher and he would have an arrow sticking out of his head for the rest of his life.  There are a lot of young bucks on this site and I didn't want them to think this was the cool thing to do.  Not harshing on you AT ALL.
