Does anyone have any info on the gov. tag holder this year? Who he is, where hes hunting, what hes seen etc.

back to the subject sorta speaking. Is the Gov tag the Raffle tag or what?

No. One is raffle tag (anyone can buy tickets for I think $5). Lucky winner gets a tag for any unit. The second one is a Gov. tag, it is bought by auction at the anual banquet. This year it went for $15K.

So, long story short, there are two very luck hunters still out and about.

Ya can not be offically scored.

And the Gov tag is bought at an auction.  last year i believe it went for 14,500 or 16,500. Its on the fish and wildlife site.  The raffle tag is a drawing.  You purchase raffle tickets as many as you want. for like 10 bucks a piece. So then your entered in a drawing and find out in august.  can hunt Sept 1st to Dec. 31st any weapon, anytime in any unit that had a deer season in it that year.

i cant remember maybe its 5 for deer, adn then i think for goat and sheep and moose its higher. and maybe elk is higher too maybe 10 or 15.  i know its a lot cheaper than $15,000 for the same tag the other guy bought.  Just think last year dad spent like 20 bucks on his tag and the other guy spent $16,500.

$16,500 would pay for quite a few nice hunts. But at least it goes to a good cause, I hope.

At one time I had a list of all the people who bought the auction tags and what they paid for them.  I am pretty sure Jim Cook did buy this years eastside deer tag.  I know I saw his name on the list.  Maybe it was the westside deer tag.

Anyway it's public knowledge and you can request the info from the WDFW.

Has anyone heard anything on the eastside elk tag?  That one went for huge money this year.

Jim Cook has the Westside Elk and I think Westside Deer.

This site should answer all questions except who has what tag.

According to my so called reliable sources Jim C notched his Westside Elk tag a few days ago. There has been a couple decent bulls running around behind his house lately but I'd be surprised if he tagged one of those being as picky as he is.

The deer, elk, goat, and moose raffle tickets sell for about 5.70 a piece, and the sheep tickets are 10.40 i believe, i know the sheep is more expensive because i decided to spend a little on them this year and i bought 2 of everything except i only bought one on the sheep so it came out to right about 50 bucks anyway.
