Missed chance Bull Elk
« on: September 14, 2009, 05:37:01 AM »
I was heading out elk hunting Sat AM.  Step out my front door, turn towards my truck, and there is a bull (5 pt) and cow eating the wifes plants.  They were feeding right next to my truck.  My bow was locked in it.  Off they went.

Neighbor told me they have been chewing up her yard.  She'll call me when she sees them again.

Shoot that sucker and you wont get too many kitchen passes next year, cause the wifey will know you dont need to drive three hours into the woods to kill one.

Funny thing is, you are heading out, going to drive for how long to hunt someones backyard, all the while someone else is doing the same thing a ways away, making a long drive to hunt your backyard. :chuckle:

Used to go to MT to hunt.  After shooting a local 7X6 bull, wife says why spend so much on MT tags?

It sounds like my place.  I got home from work a couple of days ago and there was a nice 5x5 in my neighbors pasture.  Due to a recent back re injury, I couldn't go get him.  My daughter woke me up this morning and said there is a big 3x4 and a 2 point buck feeding by my barn.  She knows that I don't shoot pets so we watched them until they left.

Hey USMC, my buddy lives up there as well.  His son woke him up one morning since for some unknown reason he had slept in during elk season.  His son comes running in yelling that there were elk in the yard.  So dad goes out in his underwear and sticks a 3 by in the yard!

Gotta hate that, we had a similar thing, the last hunting day at our camp one of the guys slept in. Well about 6:30AM he got out of the tent to whizz, well standing there in his sckivies and bare foot watched a cow that was feeding 40 yards behind the tent. :yike: Well she left when he went back in for his bow and slippers :o
