ducks/geese on west side
« on: December 22, 2007, 03:28:18 PM »
I have only been bird hunting for a couple of years now and usually hunt local areas.  Unfortunately my areas are getting posted no trespassing.  Looking for a couple of decent spots within an hour to hour and half of buckley/enumclaw.  Have dogs but no boat. Not asking for secret spots just some ok public areas for ducks and geese. I am also thinking about paying for a day of hunting somewhere, any suggestions?  Thanks for the help

Our areas are crappy for waterfowl on the westside. I have spots that are private in enumclaw but thats about all you will find. East of the mountains are good. Or if you are local in enumclaw you can go to bass lake but its hit and miss a lot!

They are. I drive a minimum of 90-120 minutes to duck hunt. This area is really harsh unless you can get some private land to hunt. Even then you gotta be careful not to overhunt it.

I wasn't aware of any guide services running in the valley other than Eagle Puke Ranch. What's your buddies service?

This guy obviously is not licensed and probably note insured at prices like that.

"I wasn't aware of any guide services running in the valley other than Eagle Puke Ranch. What's your buddies service?"

he works for north sound waterfowl  and mainly runs hunts out of skagit county but has a few fields near by nestle where he has permission and the geese use the fields often. i just talked to him and said the valley has lots of geese flyin around but not a whole lot of field usage and he also said the ducks are non existant right now... but hes killin birds elsewhere not too far away.

I have spoke to this guy and he seems like a pretty straight shooter. He offered me a youth hunt for a 1st timer and for us to use our own equipment if we wanted. He loves to hunt and thats what its all about! Take him up on the offer so he can keep guiding and proving us a great place to hunt!

I live in Enumclaw too and it does suck for duck hunting now days. I'll hunt there sometimes but i go about a hour and half away and at least get my limit every time. they may not always be the big birds but ill take a teal anytime. If your interested in going some were else pm and i'll help you out on some places to go or i almost always have room for one more.
