The way the weather is looking I'm beginning to worry about the drive over there late this month. Mainly the pass. Should I worry? What do you guys who go over a lot think?

Where are you headed?  Montana or Wyoming?   I wouldn't worry about the passes too much, I would worry a lot more about the back roads if you are hunting eastern Wyo.  If it rains a lot the gumbo becomes impossible to drive in, no matter how good of a 4wd you have.  It think eastern Montana has the same problem, but I'm not sure.  I'd go no matter what though.

Oh yeah, Eastern MT has the same problem. That whole region of SE MT and NE WY is full of Bentonite clay, the gooiest *censored* on the planet.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Oh yeah EastWa, sometimes the only thing that allows you to get around is the fact that it freezes at night most times. If not its best to walk from camp and keep a spoon in your vest for cleaning out the boots :chuckle:

Very good analogy!  Gooiest chit on earth! and it is... If it's cold better hope it stays cold.  If it warms up and thaws it can darn tough to get around.

I'm going to Wyoming. All I'm worried about is getting there and getting back. This is a guided hunt so I'll let the outfitter worry about the Goo.  :chuckle:  Today there is a freezing rain alert out there and they're talking about snow as well. I was just mainly worried about the pass. Didn't plan on buying snows or chains but just started getting a little worried since the weather is changing so fast, so I wondered if I should. Thanks guys.

Personally I'd shoot this one.  He about singlehandily made me apply for tags.

And you should, thats a damn good buck.  I'd dump him in a heartbeat, well if I had permission to hunt the side of the fence he is on that is.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Heading to Wyoming in 15 minutes, bad weather or not, really where is there bad weather in the lower forty eight anyhow.... :chuckle:  Picking up Ray at 1500hrs and were off for some adveture on Antelopes.  Long drive but figure we'll stop in Missoula tonight and press the next morning.  Three and half days of hunting to tag our speed goats.  We have one buck tag each and four doe tags if we choose to grab them...  Going to be nice just to get away without any worries.  Hotel, got a Military rate for 59 a night bucks at a Best Western in Casper/Glenorck at 4 nights and diesel fuel, PB&J for lunches and eat a hot meal somewhere, breakfast in bars...  Cheap hunt for sure....  We'll be home Tuesday, hopefully bringing a mountable animal back and some hamburger.....  Gotten some great information from a couple on this site and have secured some private lands and we both are into the limited draws for another area.  Stoked and ready to roll.  Later.
