I've got one and haven't had any problems.  Like all semi autos just remember to clean it.

I'm 24 now and had one since I was I think 15. Love the gun, never had an issue. Shoots great and fits well. I'm actually looking to buy another one right now.

I have got one...I love it...its the synthetic one with the black stock and matte finish...chambered in 3 1/2" (no-brainer) ...I call it the Black Plague ....hence my forum name  .... I sure love it, doesn't kick at all....well, less than the Bennelli anyway...it just feels right, like it molds to my body and is a part of me.

The regular 12ga. 3" chambered 11-87 is O.K. However, I can't stress enough to NOT BUY THE 3 1/2" SUPERMAG VERSION...IT IS A P.O.S.!!!

For some reason, Remington could not get it right with the 3 1/2" version of the 11-87. I had a friend who sent his gun back 5 TIMES to Remington. I worked the gun counter of a major retailer for nearly 2 years and the corporate buyer refused to get them due to similar problems.

oh yeah I almost forgot...its made to shoot large loads...which is mostly what I shoot...it is true however, that a lot of people seem to have problems shooting really weak loads, I haven't had any more trouble with mine than with the Benelli SBE... which seems to jam about 1 in every 300 shots with target loads...I also would say that it is made to be a Waterfowl gun, (poorly advertised) the thing weighs about a hundred pounds...can get tiring after more than 5 miles or so....if money isn't an issue...the lightness of the Benellis is handy...

But I still swear by mine, (maybe I just got a good one  ) ....and I will admit that other people do swear at theirs...

I owned an 11-87 for 2 years, and I'm definitely NOT a fan.  I would strongly recommend against buying a semi-auto shotgun.  One important thing you must know about the 11-87 is that you CANNOT SHOOT LOW BASE 2 3/4in SHELLS!!!  They will not eject.  A few times I even had 3in high base shells not eject properly.  I'm looking into getting a Benelli Super Nova.  Maybe look into one of those?

I have always had pumps and wanted to get a good semi-auto. Was just looking at the 11-87 REM the other day, glad to hear your comments, I will avoid them.

Mossberg 935 seems to be a pretty nice gun for the money.

I had the 11-87 and ended up trading it.  I like my Benelli SBEII much better.

for everyone that had issues with the 11-87 I bet they all were using cheap loads. I know a lot of people (in the vicinity of 10) that have bought and swear by these guns. Maybe we all just got lucky though

Have a 11-87 premier for 15 years. Keep it clean and shoots well. Never had problems with low brass loads. Replace the o rings every few years. No problems to speak of
