What fishery justifies the use of Loomis GL3's I havent found one yet.  I also had to laugh when I went to the Wallace river Hatchery and half the guys had $400 Loomis's while flossing and snagging silvers.  Maybe in AK there is a fishery that requires the use of extremely expensive rods?

The most commonly used excuse for using that kind of gear on crumbs is: "Just testin the drag on my new reel before steelhead season, and checkin the backbone on this here new rod."

As for using chums as "practice fish"...........won't even start with that one.

Same guys who hang it up a week or two after Turkey Day, when fishing gets "slow"............and all they do is get all bowed up waitin again for next years run of river fertilizer.

10-4 on GL3's.............it aint the tools, its the mechanic.

Yeah, I get a kick out of seeing these dudes with a grand worth of gear hanging off of them standing shoulder to shoulder in less than 18" of water, fighting for soreback chums.  I love watching them proudly display their catch as they walk along the highway with eggs or milt squirting out of those black gators.

I roped some Chum at Hoodsport yesterday, then stopped by my favorite high water hole on the Skok and caught four more... They are there for sure. ;)

Okay Tomy you've made your point, you don't like fishing for chums, now run along. Find something positive to add to the threads for once, your negativity is getting tiresome.

Guess some can't take a little poke..................

There has not been one lie posted, everything I said was based on facts.

..........knew somebody would show their teeth eventually.

I have friends who defend the low lying fruit, too.

Facts can be painful, I suppose.

One last thought: of all the old timers I have had the pleasure to know, who had the blessings of being able to fish 40-50 years ago, not one has ever mentioned fishing for chums. Those old timers valued skill in pursuit of their quarry, and the quality of quarry itself.............guess nobody holds improvement in high regard anymore.

Food for thought.

Sure I can, you made your point of not liking chums, now move on and let those that want to discuss them do it without your repetitive negative comments.

If that ain't stick I'll eat my shorts!!! I know his style from other Forums where they finally kicked him out for good. Likes to cause trouble and thinks he's GOD. Although he is trying to keep it to a dull roar right now as to not be so obvious.

I bet he don't last 2 weeks on this board.

Tomy could you post up some pics of those fish you guys catch in Alaska. Even one of them dark chums would be cool or some of them Lings. You take some awsome pics.

Good god I can't believe you think it's Big Stick. Know this legend well. He's a washingtonian, and a good guy. Just likes to argue a little or debate would be a better word. Hell I was the guys roommate for years. Good times, Jack

Well I just put 40 fillets into brine tonight. I suppose that lets all know how I feel about chum. :dunno:

I will post pictures in a couple days when I take the first batch out of the smoker. Then maybe some will rethink how they feel about chum.

I have a good friend who has made extremely good friends with the tribe out on the coast. He gets alot of fresh fish from them. Somehow I always get suckered into doing a bunch during the week.
