Halloween blackie!
« on: November 02, 2009, 06:58:24 AM »
Here's my last day buck. After a really slow season I couldn't let this guy walk. He was a big bodied mature buck, with a smaller frame and heavy horns. I will tell the story later when I have a minute.......

-I was glassing a bowl from way off when this guy stood up out of his bed, I drove down in their and spotted him again but he was 650 yds. I snuck through a patch of old growth and poped out across from him. This put me at 430yds. and no way to get closer, I got set up for the shot and let him have it. The slight wind put my bullet in the front corner of his shoulder instead of behind it but it did the trick. We had to quarter and pack him, and it made for a long day. Shot at about 10 and back to the truck at 3, and to top it off i realized a pouch on my pack came open and my binos had fallen out somewere along the way. Had to go back down the canyon, AGAIN, and look for them. Luckily we did find them or that would have been an expensive buck :chuckle:

Good looking blacktail, congrats!
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

I was gunna save it for you charlie, I really was- but his brisket was laid open and after flippin him down to a half ass flat spot for me to quarter him he was missimg a few patches of hair. I hate leaving a nice cape, it could have made somebody a nice mount......
