jackelope.....I am not sure if they are still available but I shot a lot of different bullets in my 220 swift and finally settled on the Speer 52 Grain HPBT Match.

I am not near as good of benchrest shooter as those who taught me and I could get a 5/8 group with those bullets. I also shot dozens of coyotes with them and hundreds of squirels. They seemed like an all around good bullet. I tried many other bullets but always went back to the 52 gr HPBT.

i'm a factory ammo guy, not a reloader so i'll look around and see what i can find. most of my guns shoot better than i do.

i'ver never had any problems with shjooting factory ammo. i usually buy 2-3 different types and see which one shoots best and stick with that one. always find 1 that shoots really well.

You must have looked up the ballistics, yes I am shooting in between 3750 to 3800. I don't load it to the max load, too hard on barrels if you shoot a lot.

Ground Squirrels, Prairie Dogs, Rock Chucks, Coyotes......all very dead. This is varmint shooting pretty close to the max. The 204 is faster but doesn't have as much bullet.

I have had it rebarreled as I already shot out one barrel, awesome round. 22/250 is about the same thing, also another excelelnt round. I like the 6mm and 257 Wby as well for varmints. I also shoot a lot of 22 long rifle too, it don't have to be ultr-velocity to have fun.

last year in montana shooting praire dogs with the 22-250 was fun but when the boy started shooting the with the 378-338 we got some great areial photos not what you would call a vamint rifle but no cripples either.

I have a 8x24 Bausch & Lomb on my pre-64 220 swift, I had it rebarrelled with a match grade SS barrel. Gun shoots better than I can...

huntnphool....I really enjoy the 257 WBY with 75 Gr HPBT, hot loaded at 4000 FPS, disintigrates squirrels or prairie dogs and nearly cuts a coyote in half anywhere under 300 yds. So flat shooting that any coyote is a dead on shot out to 300. You need to go prairie doggin one of these summers in MT with us, we'll blow up some dogs....
