is this legal?
« on: November 21, 2009, 07:30:31 PM »
when we were hunting with our t/c hawkens we would put fingernail polish all around the #11 cap to keep it sealed. 20 years of hunting the west side and not one time did a cap not fire. still exposed to the elements. clear polish hard to see. dont do it now as hunting with a black diamond and musket caps but just curious, was this legal

No.... It's still exposed to the elements... I have an in-line.. I only use it for elk on the east side but I tape the muzzle and partially tape the breech.... It's still exposed right..  :dunno:

never have been stopped by a warden so he could shed some light on it but this is what my dad taught me to do. tape over the barrel and nail polish the cap. have heard of several people putting wax over the cep. same thing? I dunno. fine line? probably

It's legal. You can cover the cap any way you want.

legal  exposed to the weather means the cap must be visible and not cover of being enclosed by an integral part of the weapon proper so as long as it didnt come from the factory being able to be sealed then your fine

They weren't "taken away." They have never been legal in this state.
