Got this guy on day 1 of late buck. GMU 667. He came in behind a doe and I dropped him at about 75 yards.

Way to go buddy!!!! Glad you were able to get one.
Nice fat buck and looks like you put the smack down on him with your shot placement.

Nice job Savage3006!! Loved your shot placement!! That lower neck shot is by far my most favorite. 100 Yds or less and that is where I try to put the bullett every time. Never had one even wiggle after the shot. Minimal meat loss and no tracking. My dad, may he rest in peace was also a huge advocate of that shot. As a young man I witnessed my dad take that shot on numerous occations and the end result was always the same "Bang-Flop" not even a twitch. I have made te exact same shot on a couple of bears also. Same results.
Over 100 yds and I put the bullett in the "boiler room".
Great buck my broter!!

Thanks again everybody! Just dropped it off at the taxi for a shoulder mount. My first blacktail so it's kinda special even though it's just a 2 point. It was a big one. Can't wait to get it back from the taxi. You're right Kent Hunter, the lower neck shot did the job alright. Bang flop is exactly what happened. Approx 85 lbs of meat in the freezer now!
