High Olympic Black Tail (First archery deer)
« on: November 29, 2009, 02:41:26 PM »
Went out Tuesday the day before the opener with a Buddy for a 4 day trip, first day we set up camp and did some glassing in the evening but saw no deer so wensday morning we hiked hard maybe covering 5 or 6 miles seeing nothing so we headed back to camp and took the truck out trying to spot something in the clear cuts but saw nothing again. Next morning we watched a good cut for the first 2 hours of light and same old story so we headed back to camp for breakfest and went out again in the evening to a new clear cut and that's when i saw this little guy on the edge of the timber made about a 150 yard stock to it and then made a perfect shot on him at 17 yards the little guy didn't go more than 50 yards those Shuttle T Locks are the best brodheads iv ever used. Went to go Field dress her and that's when i found out it was a button buck wish i would of know before i shot her because i saw a few other spikes taken this week but for my first deer i was still thrilled went back to camp and got her hang in needles to say i was very thankful this thanks giving no Turkey but the back straps were even better. Hunted the next two days try to get my Buddy on one and we ended up jumping a little forked horn buck but he was to skidish to give my Buddy a shot all in all great weekend and after 2 years Finlay got my archery deer.

[/quote]I was wondering that myself. That is a pretty primitive camp for this time of year. I used to camp like that. Sure like my wall tents and wood stove! Congratulations on your first buck!
One shot, one Deer. Two shots, maybe one Deer. Three shots, no Deer

I think that is just their fire and cooking area. There doesn't look like any sleeping items in that area. Just wood, bbq, chairs and tables. Looks like a place to eat stay warm and dry. just a thought.
