got a 340 destroyer from XXX
« on: January 30, 2010, 01:24:57 PM »
went in and picked up my destroyer on thursday from XXX. If your going to buy a bow go there. I went to three other shops looking at bows and at XXX I had had to best service than all the others. Other shops you had to wait to get help or the workers do not know what they were selling. Now I wish I would have upgraded a long time ago. The 80% let is amazing. If you shoot a 65% you need to change. After shooting 100 arrows you can
tell. With a 423grain arrow and 30in draw and 73pd pull it shoots 316fps and 390 gr 325fps. Thanks XXX for all the help.

Dude I hear you on that one.  Last year I was driving myself crazy.  Do I want the Admiral or the Alpha Max, Admiral or AM, Admiral or AM.  I shot each of them probably ten times each before I decided.  I'd do this.

Bring a pen and paper.  Shoot each bow with your eyes closed multiple times and record how the bow feels.
The level of hand torque, noise level, smoothness of draw and release and let down.  Amount of shock etc.  Anything that you feel is important.  How it feels when you hold it etc.

Then compare your notes and they should tell you.  Maybe do this twice and create a scale from 1-5 and rate each of those categories.

How's that destroyer holding up for you? You should post a couple pics. I probably would of bought a Z7, but that's just me. I don't like to have any problems, especially equipment failure. ;)

I see one thread a mile long about one incidence of a cable guard breaking after he derailed his strings from maybe shooting an arrow with a bad nok
or under spine arrow or from drawing it with his fingers.
And another thread "for the great customer service and Bowtech for taking care of this in a timely matter on the same bow with the broken cable guard"

One thing to think about is WHO is behind the computer and what is the real point behind there post...there are a lot of haters out there..Mathews had the same thing happen to them years ago people just posting BS things about them...there are a lot of good bows out today I cant really think of a bad bow out today.

i think coldsteel is just messing with septemberhunt because we both shoot mathews and after he bought it.  The bow blew apart the string in three pieces not to mention what happened to the limbs.  im laughing because he forgot to mention it.  i still dont think he has it fixed yet. :chuckle: :chuckle:thats not to say i wouldnt shoot a bowtech but just some good rivalry in hunting camp this year.

no but you just dont know what goes on after the bow goes home :dunno:
I had 2 new bows sold this week come back yesterday....Dry Fired....by friends and family.
I have seen Peeps with a bur in them and it will cut the string...fast...I know of 2 other Destroyers that
had a Dry Fire and they bolth had the string brake....bowtech is running 20 strand strings on the destroyers
just like Mathews.

I picked-up my Destroyer 350 from Cory and Dustin a couple of weekends ago.  I only have about 100 shots down range, but no issues.  I anticipate it'll stay that way.  BTW, I treat my bows with the same love and care as I do my firearms.

I did not mention that my string broke because  it was not Bowtech or XXX fault that I had a bad peep or my arrow knock was bad. My limbs are fine it just broke my string. It could have happened with any bow company. It  took a 11 days to get my bow back had to wait for XXX to get a string from bowtech. But I have my bow back now. Thanks XXX for taking care of it. :)

I just want to clarify that I was in no way saying anything bad about xxx, I have not heard anything but excellent reviews about the shop. I am on the other hand a fan of Mathews and know personally 6-8 bowtech fans who have had a lot of problems with their bows in the last 2-3 years, now I know that Nowtech makes a great bow, but I still feel that Mathews makes a better product. That is just my opinion, but I know a lot of guys with Mathews, even more than I do Bowtechs, and have yet to see a problem. In my original post I was making an inside joke to septemberhunt, who I hunt with every year and is a very good friend of mine, those who took it the wrong way, I'm sorry. And again Cory, I've heard nothing but good things about you and your shop, I didn't mean any disrespect to either.   ;)

lol i agree it should all be in good fun i am a huge pse fan and have about 30 people that i know that are shooting the xforce modles never one problem with any bow. i know about 5 bowtech shooters and all have had problems. i know about 10 people shooting matthews and one a few have had problems. and about 4 hoyt shooters and only one had a problem. so its all in good fun and every one has there own  :twocents: i own 13 bows right now but pse is my fave. i have pse, hoyt, proline, bear, jennings, oneida, browning, ben pearson so i am a archery freak as well and there are not to many bows out there that i have not shot. most are good bows but my fave is pse but don't bash other but maybe tease a little  :chuckle:

i think the bows out now a days are plenty reliable no matter what brand they are
last year i was shooting a really old pse mohave and it did me just fine
in fact it did me better than fine it got me my first elk which was a 5x5
so happy after six years trying
anyways my brand of choice is dimond from bowtech and am now shooting the dimond iceman
average groups at 4 inches at fourty yards
i'd say not bad
do a lot of shooting and check to make sure everything is in line and everything will do just fine for you
good luck and good hunting

Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.
