It's called the string yank technique. I've used it many times on other folks (Thankfully not myself) and even my dog last year. It's truly a great technique and works without causing any additional damage.
Google it for directions.

In the next few years it will be all barbless fishing in this state unfortunately.  The CR is going barbless, so you won't see this as often.
Cut em!

how is that unfortunate? do you really think you lose fish because of no barbs?

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I like taking naps when I fish.  They stick around for a while while the bell is going off.   :chuckle:

Don't think that would have worked real well with this one. 10/0 4x strong Gamy through the... forget the name of the nerve in my arm. Either way, still only have a little feeling in my pinky and ring finger on my left hand. Damn halibut anyway...
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

That's nothing, try sewing up a 3" long, down to the bone slice on your own forearm with an egg hook, 8 lb mono and a pair of needle nose.  Man that was a bitch!  When I was 10 I pulled 2 sets of treble hooks out of the back of my head and bled like a stuck hog.  Not fun stuff anyway you cut it!
