Turkey Down
« on: April 16, 2010, 02:49:09 PM »
Got this bird this morning. 5 inch beard.  Starting out going to my normal spot and didnt hear anything so jumped on the quad and started my way to another spot but stopping and calling the whole time. i get to a creek and see fresh turkey tracks in the mud so i make a call and get an instant reply so i strip off my carharts and coats and head there way. i set up in a little clearing and start calling and they gobble every time, it sounds like there coming in but then they shut up so i get up and move down the road a little bit and call and they reply so i head up a skidder road towards them and keep calling and they reply instantly and closer so i get setup on the skidder road for a straight shooting lane, at the end of the skidder road it turns 90deg left so i can really see it because of the trees so i keep calling and there really close so i look through the trees and can see them running down the road towards me. two birds come through and then this one, not knowing how many more were coming i knocked this one down, probly 30-35 yard shot, after he went down 2 or 3 more came through, probly 6 or 7 total. after i shot they spread up and there was one about 60 yards still gobbling away while im taking pics.

Way to go! 8)
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
