Guides in trouble
« on: April 19, 2010, 12:58:04 PM »
When we were at cathlamet on wensday we saw wdf officers all over a boat and I just read on the fishing wa site where they confiscated two guide boats there. The guide evedently did;nt have the guide license and you have to have a six man charter license to guide below in the columbia. The department booked a trip with him and when they caught a native salmon he suggested they flay it and hide it anyway the rumer is they took the boat and the truck. It sounded like they had been watching this guy for a while.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Good... Get the bad guys out as it gives a bad name to the more reputable guides. Also goes to show that you need to check these things out when booking with a guide. There's a lot of unlicensed fishing guides out there.
Hunting and Fishing is not what I do. But who I am...

So this might be a stupid question, but what do they do with the vehicles/weapons that they seize from these violations?

Sometimes the agency keeps them to assist with UC operations.
What's the most dangerous thing said in the US Navy? -- A Chief Petty Officer saying "Watch this s$%^!!"

"I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States Navy.'"

Sounds like the one guy got a 15000.oo dollar fine and the judge can take the car boat trailer and fishing gear if he decides to.

Best news of the day!  Way to go enforcement!

To the moron wanna be guide.  You deserve all of it and more.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

I was fishing the Cowlitz last week and got accused of being a guide. I had my uncle and 2 friends from work with me. I saw the Officer at the launch when we came up river to take out. He approached my friend, who was getting the truck and asked him how the guided trip was. He then asked my uncle and other friend how there guided trip was. They all had the same answer, "just some friends out fishing for fun". I told him "I'm not a guide" and his response was "I didn't ask you if you were a guide" . I told him I could hear him asking my friends and I was just letting him know. He was very short with us and seemed annoyed for no reason. Not a good experience at all.
