Ratdog68,  I took both of those Rosies with my Damon Howatt Hunter recurve 53lbs @ 28".  I draw at just a bit over 30" so it shoots at about 58-60lbs for me.  Damon Howatt archery was bought out years ago by Martin Archery...they still carry the same basic bow called the Martin Hunter.  As you say, it's always rewarding to harvest an animal with traditional gear.

I'm familiar with Damon Howatt... I have a Diablo... and an X-200 (Martin, probably made by DH).  Besides the one I made myself... one of my favorite bows is my Martin Mountaineer longbow.  Nicely done... harvesting with traditional gear... now THAT'S archery !!!

Congratulations to all.

I have comment on the topic of hunting pics that is timely: how a photo is staged and presented says alot about us as individuals and, sometimes unfortunately, hunters as a group. In my opinion, personal photo albums, not public forums are the place for pictures featuring gut piles, arrows still in the animal and severed heads. I think that on these public forums we need to show ourselves in the best light possible which requires some thought. I would suggest we think about it, please, when we are taking and sharing pictures.
I'd just like to remind everybody that it's about the hunting, not just the killing. In other words, it's about the total experience, the sport itself and the challenge involved. Bowhunting, done right, is a justifiable and honorable pursuit. Done for the wrong reasons, simply chalking up kills and seeking personal glory, it's taking away rather than giving back to a principled way of life that has to be experienced to be understood.
