Deleting New Replies to my Posts..
« on: April 27, 2010, 08:19:10 AM »
I'm wondering if there is a way to stop getting notified on every topic I have ever posted on, in the "New Replies to Your Posts" section??  I understand how to mark all messages as read so it shows no messages but is there a way to basically stop getting notifications on every single topic I have posted on?   If I went back to the thread and deleted my message maybe?? Anyone know?  Thanks!

There are many threads I don't respond to just because I don't want to keep receiving notifications that other folks have posted in them, Its a nice feature for some that you want to keep track of but can be annoying having to see others come up time and time again !!

Just quit posting in a thread that is of no interest to you and you'll never see them in your inbox !!!  :P

Try going to your profile, then "Modify Profile," then "Notifications and email."

Uncheck the box for:   "Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic."

I think that will do the trick. If not, there are some other options in there you can play around with.

There's several things.

Profile --> Notification Options -Toggle how you wish "Receive reply notification only for the first unread reply."

When viewing a topic click "Notify" to unmark or mark for notifications. Then it will mark the specific topic you want to read replies on.
You can edit this list under Profile --> Notifications --> Current Topic Notifications at a later time. Including removing from the list. This is explicitly different than "Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic."

There could be some improvements and not all cases are covered but it isn't half bad. Try some other forum software. It's usually much worse. In the link "New replies to my post" there is no setting. It is - new replies to my post and named correctly if you ask me. No, you can't edit that list.

Seems simple enough for me...

One more thing. This feature appears available on the next version which is in beta... So definitely will consider adding it when we do our next upgrade. Which might be a year from now or less.
