long shot but figured i'd ask
« on: July 07, 2010, 12:28:49 PM »
Like the title says, i know this upfront.

I'm going to the desert unit to hunt yotes and picked up some .22LR shot shell ammo for the rattlers (you know just in case i wanna grill one up and gross out the kids). Problem is they won't cycle in my Marlin semi auto. anyone out there willing to let me borrow their single shot/bolt action/revolver .22 or maybe do a trade for mine? I'm heading over on the 16th so i don't need this tomorrow or anything and it's not the most important part of the trip what so ever but would be a nice to have.

FUNNY THING,  I WAS CAMPING THIS WEEKEND, AND MY SEMI AUTO STOPPED CYCLEING THE AMMO.  (DIRTY)    WELL KEPT SHOOTING,  AND HAD TO PULL BACK THE ACTION EVERY TIME,    SO WHY GET A BOLT ACTION WHEN YOU CAN JUST PULL BACK THE ACTION ON THE SEMI AUTO, (WOULD BE ALMOST THE SAME THING AS A BOLT ACTION)     JUST MY  :twocents:

If something else doesn't work out, just use it as a single shot.   RARELY, unless you are standing in the middle of a den, do you need to shoot multiple times, especially if you plan on tanning/taxidermy/or eating.  Good luck.

Tried it out at the range this past weekend and they would partially eject and then jam so i had to drop the mag then clear it. I can't really complain though the box did say that the ammo may not function in semi autos.

OH,  THAT EXPLAINS THAT,  I WOULD LET YOU BORROW MINE IF I HAD ONE.  I ONLY HAVE A SEMI-AUTO

yeah just load a shell in the chamber and then drop the mag and shoot it like a single shot if the mag is still in when it part ejects then it will be a pain just drop the mag and use as single shot. and as you prob know the shells just are not hot enough to cycle the gun. good luck!

They can only get you from half their body length away...just make sure it's a long handled shovel and you'll be fine.

:)Shovel will reach as far as 22 bird shot. the stuff is worthless. 357 bird shot aint much better. carry a .410 if ya want something that will work, I mean a shot gun not that Taurus pistol, but the pistol is prolly better than any shot cartridge.
