I've got one, drew a toutle archery tag two years ago. Had a great time, ate tag soup. The wife has seven or eight points, can't seem to get drawn. That's O.K. ,I'm going to Wyoming this year. :)

Can someone tell me where in the WDFW laws it says there are a certain max number of points? I see some guys saying 10...some 12..some 13. What I read said you draw points until you draw a permit...nothing mentioned about max points. Any help,,,,thanks................Les

the point system has been in effect for 13 years(or however many years it's been in effect for), so 13 would be the max # of points one could have....but then you get the guys who turned in a poacher and got 10 extra points.
you get the idea.
i don't know how many years it has actually been going for, but seems that 13 years is a popular #

Yep, when people talk about "max points" they are just saying they have been applying since the beginning of the point system and haven't been drawn yet. 1996 was the first year, so I believe 12 points is the most a guy could have at this point.

Thats what I thought....there really are no set # of max points so in 10 years there will be people (unlucky people...lol) with 23 points or more if they made a case for WDFW. I will be too darn old to hunt Moose then.....thanks..........Les

I wouldn't ever count on getting drawn for moose in Washington, not even in a thousand years, if you were to live that long. Just look at the odds...there are a total of 100 moose permits each year, and approximately 15 THOUSAND people applying for those 100 permits. Doesn't look good, does it?

It sure doesn't look good BUT.....somebody has to get drawn and they have been increasing permits yearly and the population seems to be growing. It would be nice.........Les

No doubt, you've got to keep trying. Everybody has a chance, and on a positive note, some of the most popular deer and elk permits have worse odds.

Yep i'm right there with you, if i dont put in someone else will get drawn that's why i've been buying lottery tickets on occassion when the jackpots are high, friends say why waste your money.  I say its only $1 and a change to win millions, if i dont buy one i cant win.  I'm sure the people that win feel the same way, someone has to win and someone has to get drawn for these permits.

I have 7 points for elk, I only put in for Peaches Ridge and Teanaway, i live between both units, both are great units so those that are putting in if you dont know a whole lot about those areas there are some quality bulls as several people on here can contest to.
