St Helens Area info
« on: August 09, 2010, 06:31:26 PM »
Never hunted this whole area but got a tag to hunt for elk. I heard there are tree farms but you need permission. If anyone has any info that will help. I think my tag is for fork horn or bigger. Thanks.

You "think" your tag is for fork horn or bigger?

First off, you may wish to visit and chat with some guys before asking for help, many feel a bit weary to help out a guy who just asks for help on his first post.....

My tag is issued from the Lummi Indian Reservation, and so I believe its for fork or bigger. Never hunted elk. Just moved back down here from Alaska. Was stationed up there for the last 3 years in the Army.

Do you get to shoot in the park or the Lewit unit?   Please tell more about this tag you have.

Isn't the St Helens a long ways from traditional hunting grounds of the Lummi? :dunno:

Fore fathers once travel a path through the area one time, so it's legit.   :P

Not talking smack but the lummi tribe is 200 miles away from these hunting grounds.Wouldn't it be easier to hunt the nooksack herd?
Most of the guys on here are very helpful, but usually not to people who com eon here and ask for help as there first post. Most people come on here and add some content get to know people and then ask for help...
Alot of people have come on here for help and then left as soon as they got what they wanted and never contributed to the website.

Being a retired soldier myself sometimes you have to pay your dues, to get something. A lot of nice folks on here that take care of and believe in the military.

But you might want to attend

WLC
BNCOC
ANCOC
1SG course

Before you come on here and throw out the military trump card. Like Ice said there are lots of ways to introduce yourself and become friends and ask questions about it. SO as for me I will keep my OPSEC to myself.

And honeslty 4 the record I have never heard of an elk being called a forked horn. And with being stationed in Alaska for 6 years if you hunted up there you would know how hard it is to get a place to hunt and why people are not just handing out places and information to hunt like a DA 4550-R.
