stolen trailcam
« on: August 21, 2010, 01:59:42 PM »
 :bash:

Went up to check my trailcam after a 2 week soak and it was gone........

Bummed me out.

Somebody stole my camera right off private land.  We don't usually have a problem with letting people wander across our land.  It's not posted.   But this kind of thing has me thinking maybe it's that time.

I'm new to the whole trail cam thing.   Never thought it would be much fun, but I bought one earlier this summer on a whim and it was great fun getting to figure it out.   This last soak I was really looking forward to because my other soaks were short and not with the right settings - my fault.

So it was a double bummer to not even be able to see the pics.

I also thought I placed the camera pretty well as far as not making it obvious, but clearly I didn't place it well enough.

Anybody else had a trail cam swiped?

If you see anyone walking around with my camera, kick 'em in the crotch for me.

Sorry.  Had to vent.

Hadn't gotten any bear pics, but I had the settings wrong (it was taking a random pic every 15 minutes til I just fixed the settings).

But I did see a bear about a 100 yards form it a couple weeks ago when I put it up.    First bear I'd seen in a while but I had seen sign.

I did search the ground hoping to find it.... I don't know if a bear could pull the strap off.... :dunno:

It appears that you are relatively new to this board.  Every year it's the same thing.  Gamecams grow fairy legs and walk away on a regular basis.  Happened to me a couple of years ago.   :bash:  Now I have a lock box.  Whether or not it would keep a determined thief from taking it, I don't know.  But. it has lasted a couple of years now.

Hopefully you don't run into what we had a few years ago.  Thought we was smart had a lock box and locked to the tree.  *censored*s smashed the crap out of it and stuck a screw driver through the camera several times.  But at least they didn't get a free camera.

Makes you want to booby trap your camera with one of those dye packs that the banks use on their bait money.  Bet the would-be thief would have a hard time explaining why his face and hands are dyed red or blue, lol!

Bears get a little bit currious and like to rip them off trees and use them as a toy.  My buddies was chewed up and ripped appart.  He thought someone had stolen his until my bird dog located it.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
