Haven't been to bird creek since last year in all the dang snow.

Hoping to head down to Trout Lake in the next couple weeks.

Good Luck

I hunted around trout lake, accessed the bute just past the cemetary, my son and I rode mountain bikes on the closed timber roads, covered a lot of area only seen a few deer and one scragly bear

A lot of logging going on in that area and it has changed the hunting grounds near quigly butte.  I was out yesterday, put in 8 miles, and only saw one buck, a little forked horn.  No bear and no elk.  There is no acorn crop this year :(  and thats a bad sign for the deer and elk and bear hunting in that area.

Right on, It is a great area, spent some time there today.  We'll be camped on the 2420 rd, you and your friends, and anyone else reading this, is welcome to stop in and say hi.  I'm always in my blue/silver lifted F250
Good luck to you and your friends.

I agree, that is a very nice area. This was my first year hunting in and around that area and I managed to fill both my tags just hunting the weekends, which is all I had available. Long drive but worth it for me. I took a decent buck last Sunday and filled my doe tag last night just before dark.

First ever two-fer for me and I got a line on some new turkey haunts to boot. Great area. You will definitely see my old green Rodeo in that area in the future.

Just got back from elk huntin, went up to Quiggly Butte by Mt.Adams .  They have logged off our areas that we hunted for years :'(, So i guess it's time for a change up and try a new place, it was a bum deal. Had fun though, got some wood stacked at the cabin, and drank a few cold ones.  Looking forward to late season. :)

Yeah, they logged alot on the old Champion lands. Red butte is now bald as is alot of the area around it. Looked to me that meadow butte and Quigley were still timbered, but I never looked at the back of meadow butte. Quigley had some thinning last year and they were logging down on the south side.

It will change the routes the elk take. Just go tto learn the new pattern I guess.

They did log alot off, between Quiggly and the meadow is cut, the trail after the sign is marked for logging to , guess we'll have to do our homework. All i need is to see the pattern of a mossback and its a done deal. :chuckle:
