Last Day Buck and a few sheds (EURO update 10-31)
« on: October 24, 2010, 05:51:45 PM »
Let me start by saying how much I hate that I am a shed freak. I walk around looking and glassing for sheds even when I am suppose to be deer hunting. I think I would find better bucks if I wasnt looking at the ground all the time.  :chuckle: I was sitting on a ridge with my father in law glassing across a canyon. I let out a "there is a nice one". He gets his gun ready and says "where". I say " no a big shed". He just doesnt understand.  :chuckle:

We planned the annual pack in trip and off we were. Mild temps made us look to the timber thickets for bucks but we were able to find a few. I helped my brother in law on his second buck to date. It was a small 3 point. His cousin that was with us for the first time shot a good 3X4 and it was his first buck. I held off on a few small ones during the week. I jumped one on our last day about 1:00 pm. Not suppose to shoot one after noon cause it scews up the pack up for the long haul out the next day. Oh well, it was worth it.  :chuckle: Next year I have to be back to camp by 10:00 am, after that I have to haul it out by myself.  :chuckle:

All in all it was once again a very relaxing get away from the rest of the world for a week. There is nothing better than getting away from the general season circus in the low lands. We might not kill the biggest bucks but we sure get to have a good time and have ridge after ridge all to ourselves.

Pictures are in order from start to finish. Pack up at home, pack in, brither in law and cousin buck back at camp, camp pictures and my buck.

Looks like a good time. What general area were you hunting in? Just curious.

I would have never guessed that there would be that many sheds at 4500-5500 feet.
