that really sucks.  i think i might have some harsh words and maybe have to ask my 'buddy' to step outside so we can settle this.  thats absolutely a crock that he would do that.

ive always tried to be very respectfull of the places my friends have shown me and ive always tried to reciporicate to them with the places i have.  its just one of those deals were there is an unwritten code and definately was broke.  id be pissed.

anways sorry to hear again.  id tell your friend that he burned himself and then id continue to brag it upto him how great your other spots are.  then when he asks you to take him id tell him to EAD.

Letting your friends hunt with you in your secret spot is what friends do.  Friends do not turn around and give up your secret, especially after being asked to keep it that way.  Doesn't sound like a friend to me.

My buddy takes me to plenty of his land to hunt pheasant, quail, and waterfowl.  Not once have I ever hunted those spots without him.  My dad and I have a few spots we hunt together and only together unless I go alone and thats how those spots stay as well.  I swap hunts on my spots with my buddy and he swaps hunts with his spots.  It works out as we can trust each other.  There are maybe 6 people who I can take hunting and know they wont burn my spots.  Sad, but its how it is.

Heck I'll wear the blindfold and sleep on the way there if we can shoot some birds. You can even search & pat me down like the TSA to insure I don't have my GPS. When do we leave?

 :yeah:

I had a guy I would take duck hunting on public land that you needed a boat, no problem as he didn't have a boat, but he always wanted me to take him turkey hunting...  no way as I knew him and his three kids would be there the rest of my life.

Hard lesson learned as I have learned in the past.  I learned my lesson when I was 15 and took some of my friends to my Uncle's hunting area he showed me.  I have never taken any of my co-workers to my secret spots and I am very very picky about my hunting partners.  Sorry you had to go thru this lesson the hard way.

I learned the "code" from an older respected hunter. Normally you trade hunts. The less experienced person should give up his hunt spot information to the other experienced guy. Then based on what the sharing guys learns he can share a good spot or a not so good spot for the trade hunts. The inexperienced guy should pay his dues by reading, door knocking, and exploring. If everyone would follow this code that I learned, the sport would benefit for all. :twocents:

My friend shared his spot with me and I will not hunt this without him even though he said it was ok. I would never leak the spot info to other guys( they have asked). Recently I asked a couple guys to keep my good spot quiet and they came back and assured me they were asked about the spot and did not disclose it. I will take them to more spots now. They took me to their spot last year and I have kept thier spot just between us as well.  :twocents:

I learned a long time ago to take people only to public hunting ground areas that I talk up as "the best damn hunting you will ever find anywhere" Been burned once, won't happen again.

Serious shame, goes to show why everyones weary of taking anyone anywhere near their honey-hole/decent areas

I'd knock the SOB co-worker out, so long as he wasn't someone who signed your paychecks.

When someone tales me to a precious spot, I make it a rule to not go back unless I am with them or they flat tell me to check the spot on my own. I did break the rule this year and took my wife with me, but I think I can trust her ( I know where she lives ) I personally have no secret spots of my own, Tman and I found a good place we saw some bear, but I have also been told that a hot spot for bear may not be hot the next day. Did I mention that I hate bears now!
