What I am interested in proving or finding out........some say animals shed almost the exact time every year (themselves I am talking) yet some say the bigger the buck/bull the earlier they shed. Can't really have it both ways. I've kinda seen it both so maybe again there is no hard fast reasoning behind it.I always say..."They shed when the antler falls off and hits the ground". Could be today, could be tomorrow, or it could be a month from now. There are certain times when I expect certain things to happen, but almost every year while shed hunting I see things that just make me scratch my head. I've gone so far as to keep detailed records on calenders with dates of sheds found, numbers found, location, past snow storms and amount of accumulation, weather, etc... and then use it to attempt to figure out exactly when they had to have shed their antlers. You can narrow it down as to a time frame for the majority, but even that can be off year to year. Yes, I'm a little crazy about shed hunting...I've know that for about 16 years now.
