I shoot the Comp-N-Choke full in both my 10 and 12 guage Brownings. I have not changed them since I put them in.

I dont know about the Patternmaster being worth $100, but I have heard nothing but great things about them..I will tell you that the Kicks chokes are worth $60....Ive shot plenty Black Cloud and it seems to knock them down with less cripples...me saying this will probly get a few responses on how others can do the same if not better shooting with cheaper ammo ;)

The first thing I notice when shooting steel ,after having not hunted for 20yrs,was how the birds just fly off after being hit.
I know I hit them cause they dropped 10 feet, then changed coarse.

A kid up here that is a big time ducker(can I say that on here?) swears by blackcloud.
I do need more practice, but I went thru an entire box and bagged 2 birds.

a choke tube is only as good as the pattern it puts out from YOUR own personal gun along with whatever load you are using. IMO hunters spend way too little time at the patterning board and just slap in what ever choke so and so recommended.
if you want more ducks with less shells, do some patterning in the off season and you might just find out that the factory choke your gun came with does just as  good a job as that super nifty looking-ported-after market choke you just dropped $90 on.

that being said I love my kicks high flyer in full.  :IBCOOL: it CRUSHES ducks at 40 yards. I have had very very few cripples since I got it, and with the cripples I did get I didn't have to waste 5 shots to kill them.

like i said i have tried patterning my gun and with many many different loads out of all of my factory chocks and it sucks. took multiple shots at a wounded goose the other day from as far as 30 yds to as close as twenty yds and still had to ring its neck. the pattern was all around it on every shot. when my mossburg has a 2 foot pattern this seems to have a five foot pattern

Have you tried going to a more open choke? if its constricted too much it can blow the pattern with steel. you may be going the wrong way on this.

Get out and pattern your loads in your gun. Paper will work if you cannot get to a gun club with a patterning board. Use a 30" circle on the paper and shoot at a center spot at 40 yds. You can shoot closer and farther but 40 yds will tell you everything you need to know about your gun/shell/choke combination.
Once you decide your load patterns relatively evenly, the rest is up to you.
As far as lead vs steel, personally I think the new steel loads kill ducks as well as any lead load from yesteryear.

well nobody can really tell you what choke to get. every gun has what it likes. you may want to start out with some chokes in the 60dollar range instead of going all out. or i do believe there was a guy that you sent your barrel too and he made a choke specifically for it. he also said you couldnt use hi speed loads or anything bigger then bb with it. i forget his info tho. Good Luck

If you're set on shooting That gun, find a duck/goose load that patterns decent and go with it. Stay away from the high speed stuff. Buy some 1300 fps stuff and try it. I can't believe there isn't a bunch of shells out there that will pattern nicely thru your gun with most any choke at 30 - 40yds. I've patterned close to a hundred target and hunting loads over the last 20+ years thru a lot of different guns with different chokes and the only loads that sucked were my own super high speed duck/goose loads.
