Sportco Jig Tying seminar
« on: December 12, 2010, 05:35:47 PM »
I talked to Cory who over see's the fishing department at Sportco asking for a jig tying seminar in February or March. He has asked before but the top management at Sportco did not support it.

I am asking if you shop there, please go to the customer service department and fill out a customer suggestion that they sponsor a jig tying seminar. I would like to start a bottom up approach for getting the seminar scheduled. If there is enough people who request it they will put one on. Bill Herzog works there to help give one of the sessions.

Any way if you can help I would appreciate it.

I see stuff like that every year at the Puyallup show. They should have something on the web page with seminars and sceduled times by now.

I'm sure the management wants to continue selling their store bought jigs.

They make more money off the entire isle of components then a five feet of one isle.

If you could request it I would appreciate it.

I guess I don't understand why we should be asking?  :dunno: What is the reasoning behind having a seminar?

Are you trying to learn? If so there are hundreds of tutorials online.

I am learning.  If you are an expert then do not sign up.  If you want to learn please request a class.

The YouTube tutorials are very limited.  If you have a rotational vise the technique is different.

You do not get to ask any questions on a video...

Anyway, if you want to learn please go to Sportco and go to the information desk and request a class through the complaint/ suggestion process.

I wonder if the Zog would lower himself so low as to actually fish a jig? I doubt it.

I wouldn't expect Sportco to host a jig tying seminar.

general zog does fish jigs on occasion, but i'd doubt that it's his favorite technique(mine either).

i think guys put a lot more effort into tying jigs than is necessary(steelhead are dumb), but i think it's more of a satisifaction of catching something on a lure you  made kind of thing.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I will agree with big goon. I put wayyyy too much effort into the jigs I tie. think of all the fish over the years that have been caught on yarnies. That being said I fish with what I am confident in, if that's a multiple colored palmered schlappen jig that took me ten minutes to tie then so be it. :D
