If you don't already have private land to hunt on that's got elk, I wouldn't even waste your gas. Sorry to say, but I can't think of a worse elk permit to have, unless you live here and have elk on your own land.

Unless you have taken the class and obtained a permit, Ft. Lewis Rez land off of Rainier road is not an option. The military frowns on people hunting on their PRIVATE land without going through the proper procedures.
Yes, by class I do mean watch a video and fill out paperwork. And yes it is private because it is not readily open to the general public at any time. They deny you access until you meet their requirements.
