As everyone else has said, body gripping traps are illegal in this state. This same law also applies to moles, those highly effective scissor traps are illegal. WDFW makes a couple cases every year for people using snares or other body gripping traps for coyotes.

And it is correct, totally legal to own/posses the trap, but illegal to use. Kind of like how you can possess a barbed hook in the saltwater but can't use it.

I'm guessing this is why I can't get sticky mouse traps around here?

Ha Ha those things are legal. Hmm, maybe a big one for coyotes. It would be legal. :)
