Another Smokehouse project
« on: January 30, 2011, 08:45:04 AM »
Hello Everyone

here is a link to another project for building a smokehouse this seems to be a popular style smoker and seems easy enough to build in this link it uses propane for heat but I would use electric for better temp control and I would insulate it

That's a cool example. I really don't like any wood around my burner, that's why I constructed my lower section out of cinderblocks.

I would also go electric as that type of propane burner puts out way too much heat and cannot be turned down low enough for cooler temps.  My previous smoker had the same burner at first and I later went electric because of it.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Huey, I don't know what they make plywood out of, but would that type be safe for smoking?  I would be concerned if the plywood was made out of any type of chemicals. :dunno: That smoker looks easy to make and looks awesome.  John

John I have made smokers out of Plywood for years and have had no problems I know a lot of other people that do this also and I dont think I would use the chip board to much glue in that stuff I also think if you keep temps down that you will not have a problem then again I have one plywood smoker in my back yard that is 25 years old and has been burn down twice I just rebuilt it I do know that they make a great smoker if used properly
