I think that 99% of the issues WDFW "has" wouldn't exist if it weren't for internet hunting forums.
 

That and the cell phone.  You guys think its so cool to call and bug them, but everytime you do it takes that much more time off their hands.   When you are doing your job, do you like the phone ringing distracting you constantly.  Try some patience.  Its good practice for in the field.

We think its cool to call them and bug them?  I know whats not cool and thats not having your special permit the day before the season begins!  It would suck if I had to travel and couldn't leave home yet because I was waiting on the mail man to see if he had my permit!

Some people do apparently. "whens the draw? when are the new regs coming out? When is the raffle hunt draw? When is this draw when is that draw?"  If the shoe fits, wear it. If it doesn't, don't.

I'm just as anxious as the next guy for the results to come out and wish they were earlier but I know if I had to answer those questions all day long I'd come unglued.

I get that but I think if this state could do things in a more timely manner it could alleviate a lot of these phone calls and problems.  Yes were talking multi season here but look at our special draws, do we really need to wait till June or July to draw.  No reason why we can't draw earlier in the year.  I've said it multiple times now and I hate repeating it but why is it all these other states can do there drawing so early in the year but ours is so late?  I don't work for WDFW so maybe their is a logical explanation someone can give?

  and I also don't understand why we need a month to fill out our special permits?? Really, couldn't they just give us a couple weeks to decide and speed up the process.  I know in February if I drew for elk in Wyoming.  I know they have gotten better, in the past we didn't know till sometimes Late July.

More time to apply = more applicants = more MONEY is the theory that I think they are operating on.

Bobcat, Question for you. I think this has been talked about before but lest say you draw a Multi Season Elk tag. Can you apply for a Muzzy Cow permit and a Modern Bull permit?

Yes you can, and you can do it on both sides of the state too...

from page 74 in the regs:
"Elk multi-season permit holders may hunt eastern and western Washington."

That is totally cool.

Yes, I must agree! The Multi Season for Elk really opens a lot of doors for both East and Wet side.

If I can get a deer multi this year I will be thrilled, If I can get an elk too, that would be over the top.. and add to the already bad ass season I have planed already:

Spring black bear in MT in April
Elk in ID in October
Deer in MT in Nov

All private access/guided/semi guided hunts..

Yes you can, and you can do it on both sides of the state too...

so are you saying you can put in for archery/modern rifel/ml spical prmits for east and west so you can enter for elk six times? and what if you dont get drawn for any to you get six elk points for next year

I think that is the case...I've never drew a M/S elk permit so I don't know for sure.

No.  You would only have one additional point for each elk category (bull, quality, cow) if you are unsuccessful.

If you get drawn for all three, then your points would be reduced to zero in all three.

OH yeah duhh...there's no differentiation between east and west points.

No, You still only get 2 choices for quality bull. you just have more to choose from. You don't get 2 choices for each you get 2 total.
