me make big mistake

here's the problem,I put camo tape on my .308,everywhere...stock barrel the works,all set up for spring bear 2008,that's right 2008..well got in a wreck and didn't walk for a long time,I spaced putting the tape on there.I was cleaning guns and pulled it out of the safe..Holy crap!!!!!took the tape off what a frigging mess...any suggestions for cleaning up the residual glue sticky crap left on the stock and gun...

I've used WD40 on glue residue before (not on a gun though) and it's worked for me

tried break free no worky,was wondering about mineral spirts...it really is in bad shape..

try heating it up with a hairdryer to see if you can get it to soften

Goo Off, you can get it at most Auto supply stores and Freds may have it, best stuff I have used for removing "stickem" stuff

Orange Peel adhesive remover works great, it's made for removing sticker and tape residue.

I just restored an old 30-30 that had 10 year old camo tape on it that had basically turned to glue.  Goof-off took it right off and brought it back to new.  I oiled the crap out of it and it is like it never happened!

Goof Off or Goo Gone...try them both in an inconspicuous area to make sure you're not going to do more damage.

Goof Off = naptha in an expensive can. Just buy naptha from the paint/hardware store, should work real well for getting tape goop off.

With I had known that, I have a can of Naptha in the garage and did not even think about using it
