Pointing lab training???
« on: April 18, 2011, 11:29:52 AM »
Hey guys I'm getting a pointing lab and wanted to hear any feed back from guys that have had them or have them now.  I will be taking it to tiger mountain kennels for more formal training but the puppy stuff will be done by me.  I have trained two non pointing labs and wanted to hear any do's and don'ts that you have for a pointing lab.  Thanks

Obedience is obedience.  It doesn't matter if they are a flusher or a pointer.  If you plan to work with birds before you take your dog to John, just make sure you don't let the dog catch the bird.  You may want to begin work on the whoa command as well.  I found the book "The Pointing Labrador" by Paul and Julie Knutson to be helpful. :twocents:
Hunt hard and shoot straight!
