Raffle and auction permits
« on: June 01, 2008, 02:01:10 PM »
Can someone help me out in explaining how the raffle and auction tags work.  I thought I read somewhere that the goat raffle tag only allowed you to hunt units with 2 or more tags offered.  Does anyone know if this is correct?  I can't find any detailed information on the tags in the hunting regs or on the website, very annoying...  If that is correct, does the auction tag work the same way, or can you hunt any goat unit?

On the same not, how do all the raffle/auction permits work.  I saw that you can hunt from September 1 to December 31.  Can you hunt any weapon in any area at any time?  Or do you have to follow the hunting regulations at the time.  So if you had the eastside deer tag and you were hunting Entiat during the archery hunt, do you have to archery hunt?  Or can you just walk in with any weapon, anytime from Sept. 1 to December 31 and shoot a deer?

Thanks.

basically any weapon any place where there is a season open at some time.  I have not heard abouthte goat with 2 tags in it.  I am betting that its any unit with at least one, but I don't know that for sure.  Check out our big thread......and you can pick up some more ideas.

The part I put in bold pretty much says that, just in a different way.

The answer to this question, at least the way I understand it, would be yes. You could hunt with a rifle during the archery season in the Entiat unit, or any other unit, except those that are closed. (such as Alkali.)

Right. It says what is closed, and everything else is open, from Sept 1 to Dec 31 and any weapon can be used. So a guy with the auction or raffle permit can hunt with a rifle in basically any unit anytime during those 4 months. I think maybe you misunderstood what Boneaddict was saying?  :dunno:

Thanks for the info everyone.  Does anyone know if the auction goat tag is the same as the raffle?  Can you hunt the units with only 1 goat permit with the auction tag?  Thanks.
