gardner whitetail

Any of you guys ever hunted the Gardner for whitetail. I seen a bunch on private  . Seemed like all I seen were muleys and bears when I was there.

All of the whitetails I saw were on private in the river bottoms

That's the same thing I saw. I just was curious if they showed thier faces on public ground at all.  I bet it would be a tough hunt  if you didnt have private ground to hunt.

 A few years ago I had the late Gardner tag. It was unusually warm so one day after an early morning glassing I went up the Twisp river road Between Canyon creek road and Little Bridge creek road to try rattling in a Whitetail on public land. Sure enough I rattled in a nice 4x4 (120ish) but I had my heart set on a Mulie. They are there on public land and moving more and more up that drainage.

I have been hunting Twisp river for years and have seen them clean up around North creek ...Never any big ones just little 3 an 4 pointers ... I love hunting this area ... no hunters and you best be part billy goat to hunt it ... :chuckle: :chuckle:

My experience based upon archery and ml seasons end of sept beginning of Oct

We seem to chew up alot of common ground! Just got back from camping at South creek. Saw more bucks down low than usual. Alot of snow up there still.
