An awesome gift for someone is to contact your state representative (I think), and request a flag be flown over the US capitol. You can usually request a certain date like a birthday. We got one flown for my dad's 70th B-day, he was thrilled, even though "our" current pres was not his choice. I think he said "best gift ever" with a tear in his eye.

We stopped at a fruit stand outside of Leavenworth yesterday, just because they had a huge 50 foot American flag waving. It was an awesome thing to see the huge flag flying in the wind. I made sure I told the owners that their flag is what made us stop at their fruit stand over all the others in the area.
