Screwed up Permit Notices
« on: July 01, 2011, 04:37:23 PM »
 :bash:   :bash:

Anyone else have special permit cards that don't match the permit you put in for??

Weathergirl and I drew Decatur Is second deer, hers for archery and mine for modern.  These were my second choice and her only choice.  She noticed today that both of the postcards say second deer, "ANTLERLESS".   :dunno:  I'm thinking what the huh?  When did they change that?  It was not a different color in the regs to indicate a change from last year, maybe last year's was antlerless also?  Looked at her card from last year, says "ANY DEER."  OK, now I'm POed, gotta look at the Regs.  Hunt numbers, Decatur, says "any deer", both of them are highlighted and the numbers I chose.  Compared the numbers to the postcards.... the numbers on the post cards indicate Blakely!  WTF is the matter with these people?  Now I have to waste my time on Tuesday and try to get this garbage straightened out.

You all better check those cards to make sure they are what you thought they were.

Not sure what the deal is with the Blakely/Decatur thing.  However, my 2011 regulations say both units and both weapon choices are "Antleress".

Last year both of those permits were for "any deer" but this year they are both for "antlerless".

They are all antlerless (at least in my copy of the regulations).

Well, I just noticed that I pulled out the 2010 regs to double check, the cover was missing so I didn't notice.  But WTF, why did they change to antlerless only?  And, why was it not indicated in red that it was a change??   If it is any deer for the general why did they change it?  I'm not sure the extra cost of a tag is worth 25 pounds of meat from a damn doe....

I am so sick of this freakin' game (I mean "fish and wildlife") department CHANGING THINGS AROUND AT WHATEVER STINKING WHIM THEY HAVE!

Better buy those second deer tags before September 1st. On September 1st the second deer tags go up with all the rest of the new fees. The price for second deer tags goes up to I believe $62.00 on September 1st.

All the island tags went from any deer to antlerless this year for second deer.

Well it seemed at the time anyway, that they changed it in the paper regs but not on the online reg's. I can't open the regs on this pc, there's something that needs to be done to it so I can open PDF doc's but it said when I put in, that the Guemes permit was for any deer. The paper regs definitely say it's antlerless.

I think the paper regs prevail because that is the circulated copy.  I noticed last year that some of the descriptions changed from the early online regs to the circulated regs other than the major changes that they noted.

Actually, the online version is more "correct" because they update it to fix any mistakes that were made in the pamphlet.

All of the changes will be listed here:

Under the tag required - several say "any deer tag", which means that it is not specific to archery, modern, or muzzleloader.  Any of you folks getting confused on this point?

I went back and looked at the regs that I saved to my desktop within a day of when it was released by WDFW and all of the second deer show as "antlerless".  So they either corrected it really quickly or some of you may have been mistaken.

That's a good point. That must be what's causing the confusion. I also just went and looked at my pdf version of the regs, which I saved to my computer on April 14th, and every hunt listled under 2nd deer tags is for antlerless deer only.

I just wonder why they did not highlight these hunts in red since there were changes made from the previous year?

I'd like to know what their reasoning was for this.  Seems kind of pointless given the population dynamics out here.

I don't know where I went wrong....really don't care too much either. If I can find a place to hunt, I'll go shoot a deer. If anyone has the inside scoop on Guemes Island and cares to share, I'm all ears. I got a map with a couple small pieces of public ground already.
