Orthotics for hunting boots

Anyone on here have to wear orthotics? I have the Cabelas's Perfekt hunters and mine don't seem to work well with my boots. Tight in the toe box and its rubbing on my toes. Any suggestions on a style of boot to try? I must wear them or I won't be able to walk for days..

Yes, I wear the solid orthotics, and to be honest unless I buy a softer soled boot like a Danner, they squeak in my boots badly.  I've owned the Perfekts from Cabela's as well and took them back, but to be honest it was probably the fault of the orthotic.  I have a pair of the Meindl Ibex's now, and they are not too bad now that they are further broke in.  But Rocky's or Danners with their more flexible sole, which I know is not as supportive, seems to be the best for my orthotics.

i wear the orthotics that i got with my danner rainforests it is one of the best orthotics that i have had in a boot

I have a pair of their High Country Synergy Bed and they work well in my boots. So far I really like them.

A pair of their boots are in my future too as from what I have read they have a crazy amount of R&D and are basically cut to your foot. But the price is high and I have yet to wear out my other pair.

I had a pair of inserts that i paid a lot of money for they didn't fit my hunting boots very well so i went with out them for hunting,after a week of off trail steep hill climbing up dowm rough terrain i didn't need any more,i assume streching and bending my ankle and foot muscles fixed my feet,this has happened 2 seasons.

i wear superfeet in all my boots.  Usually green's but i do have a set of orange ones.  my wife's knees and hips were hurting her so i bought her a pair and they helped a lot.

I have seen the lathrop and son's ones but they are flat, i need support. I understand they are supposed to be super shock absorbers so i have toyed with the idea of connecting them to a pair of superfeet.

I've tried the superfeet and they definitely are good for support. I need more cushion than they offer though, so I have gone with another brand. I found out that Superfeet are for support, not cushioning, and my feet were getting sore in the heel and ball-of-the-foot area from the constant pounding on a concrete floor at work

If you have serious trouble with your feet consider Russell Moccasins. They will build them to fit you. I had them build my last (4th) pair around my orthotics and it is a great fit and they are very comfortable. Rhey are more expensive but if taken care of they will last. I just retired a pair I bought in 1992 after being resoled 4 times. If you average it out its cheaper in the long run,

My wife required custom orthotics prescribed by a poditrist. Those things are expensive!!!! I could have bought 3 pairs of Danners most expensive boots for what those things cost.

I also use the green Superfeet inserts, been using them for years and love em...The last couple of years I've started using Sof Sole 3/4 graphite orthotic supports and like them as much or more than the Superfeet.  I  think these hold up better.  My doc recommend these inserts.  Either one is good for me.  I will not use the original insoles I get with boots anymore, I buy new boots I buy orthotic insoles at the same time.

What I don't understand is you spend a couple of hundred bucks on a decent pair of boots and the boot laces are crap.  What's THAT about?  I also change out the boot laces every time I buy boots too....

I see a couple of posts about cushioning...I am diabetic, I have to be really careful of my feet.  For cushioning I use high quality thick wool or poly/wool blend boot socks with a good liner sock.  Gives me plenty of cushioning and I get great support from the inserts.  My falling arches appreciate it.

I am extremely naive and uneducated when it comes to diabetic conditions so pardon me if this is a no-brainer question, but how come it is so important for your feet to have adequate cushioning etc? Just curious..

I had the same problem until I purchased the Lathrop & Sons, Hanwag Alaska GTX's and I throw in Superfeet,  after I take the original footbeds out...works great! plenty of room, and great arch support! Great boots too, if your in the market!!
